Cheers for the link. I have now joined 2 recovery forms. I think will have to go with a lwb recovery then unless I find a really good spec lift in the mean time.

Just had a read through this, before replying. I hope you have found most of your answers, but just in case here goes. If you are picking up PG9'd (impounded because of faults) motors from VOSA spot checks you can't take them with a spec, all wheels must be completely of the road's surface. I would be suprised if they would let you take them in front of them. Secondly if you are overloaded (bear in mind a volvo estate wieghs the same as a LWB transit), you can be up for 3 points on your licence, and a fine. Bearing in mind the overloading of the rear axle with a spec lift, depending on how much the axle is overloaded you could end up with a PG9 yourself! With that, you would be obliged to unload to a legal limit (ie leave the car behind) before being allowed to continue.

I make most of my money from the VOSA station so I have no choice but to get a lwb recovery rather then a Spec now.

why not just get yourself a 7.5tonne?tilt and slide with a spec lift on the back..if u cant afford a tilt and slide get a beavertail and a decent winch.And get decent insurance cover for any vehicles you have on the back as well..
