its all a bit confusing at times eh.
I thought my 92 j=plate was a mk3! but it has overiders front bumper and vented discs amongst other things ford class it as the mk4 or call it the new generation.
Just about evry part i buy for this van has to be double checked most times i get the wrong part for the older version.
I been told it was made right on the change.

I took ages for me to grasp this, but Fords go on BUILD year, ie the year the van was built, not registered. If in doubt, quote em the chassis number!

Again how do you make it 5? Have you included the New Generation as a Mk? That would be the only way you could get to 5, but the newgen doesn't look much different to the Mk3, only cosmetics like grille. :?

ive found that there are more differences between the 'new generation' and the '86 - '95 transits than there is between the mk1 and mk2 just that the mk1 - mk2 differences are a lot easyer to see at a glance.

eg. (mk3 and new gen wings look the same even when you hold them next to each other),
just try fitting a mk3 wing to a new gen (cos they're cheaper) like i did

Still pretty near, not quite like fitting a Mk2 to a Mk3, is it? Still only 4 transits, Ford says so........
