I don't know what the fuss is about, if you want to use veg, use it, as surfersexperiment said, do the research and then decide. It's no like a lot of people have come on here and said I used it, and it ruined my engine. On the contrary, in this very thread there has been proof offered that veg and bio works, is fine, and had actually been used for 1000s of miles without trouble.

well i have been told tdci diesels will not run on it ,i would not take that chance myself and my van is under warranty as well so its normal diesel for me! :wink:

if you have a old di or something like that then thats the owners choice but not in my tdci no no no no :wink:

Thank you, you have researched it? and it is not for you?. We know it is not for everyone and most common rails don't. I thank you for not saying no to BIO like (he seems to me my nemisis) MR P does. It is a research into it job and if you can your quids in.

By the way Mr Mad, did you research on the BIO forum? I haven't looked into your engine, but I would guess a conversion of around £600 DIY would be required.

I just need Mr P to tell me why, why, why :lol:

i wouldnt run on anythink that diesel in my van ,i canot aford to take a chance with ford over a new pump this is the only reason , if i could put anything cheaper in it i would belive me :wink:

we tried running a di on cooking oil and the smell was auwfull and asking for a pull !!!!!! :shock:

Running on veg isn't illegal now is it though? So sod the smell, how bad can it be? Twice the price as bad?

Hi,

Sounds like your motor is under warranty? I would err caution, especially with a modern diesel (them damn pumps) but do check out the BIO diesel forum, you may be able to offset your warranty against conversion cost? Hey, your the moderator, you see lots of posts you have probably already done this.

Regard your DI that you ran on 'cooking oil', non modified? Would like to know if it was a 2.5di the year and the pump you had if you were running 'cooking oil'. Why were you put off by the smell being a giveaway? Were you worried about duty? And why? Easy ways round 2,500 limit.

this is a wiloe ago now it was from a shop and put into the van but we didnt keep the van for long ,mind you it ran ok just very smelly! :lol:

Mad,

I did need a bit more than you bought oil from the shop, put it in, but it seemed to run ok. Then you sold it. I could put veg straight into my tank, it will go about 10 miles (if very lucky) with no diesel in there, or the pump, on a warm day. So, how much did you put in, was it neat (i.e no diesel in there at all) and how far did it go? From what you say you sold a runner, so answers please on a postcard to:

Unless your DI wasn't and was strangely a 1970's Merc or VW/Audi? Nah it wasn't, so please tell.

All in the interests if keeping it real and sorry if I sounded a bit MR M there, he doesn't know this subject, I do, he claims to (Mr M BIO neg) I just really would like to know how far you went on straight oil and the pump on your 2.5DI, so would the BIO community.

mate it was used and not sold off with the vegi oil in the tank , i think if i recal it was about 30ltrs into the tank and the rest diesel , it was warm wether so no problem starting! :wink:

but this is a wile ago when it was cheap i think about 35p a ltr :wink:

When what was cheap at 35p per litre? Did you put BIO in then? Which is not straight veg. I am just a thinking here, can't be recent for straight veg, as Bookers do 25 litres for £9 for crappy veg, Sunflower better though, more expense, better mix. I am thinking you had BIO for 35p a litre and a diesel mix in your tank to be safe.

So did you run straight veg, or BIO. BIO is not straight veg, think you may know that.
