Well not a great update :( . Coconut helped out and faxed over loads of paper work to show the engineer. After day he calls back saying no mistake has been made and the offer is £1620.00.
I then asked can I buy it back he goes no it is a cat B :( .

Today 1pm I get a call from a salvage yard saying they are coming over tomorrow to collect my van!! I was like yer F*K your coming to collect my van I haven’t agreed to anything  .

So then I rang the insurance company asking what’s going on. They now want me to send my documents in. I then asked they guy how did you people manage to make my van a cat b :? ?? he goes no its not a cat b it’s a cat c you can buy it back. Then he goes oh I don’t know if this price that’s been offered to you inc vat or not I will have to find out :? .

They said I can buy it back but I will have to pay 30%!! What a rip!! :!: :!:

The insurance company is so dazzed!! Anyways I have had a lot of advise from fellow members saying don’t accept it and dispute the matter. So that is what I am in the process of doing. Printed of around 20 adds similar vans like mine mostly all over 2.5k and some even 3.5k!

I have also been told my a couple of people that the price offered is a TRADE PRICE not the current market price. Don’t know how true this is but I am going to write out an essay to the sods and hopefully get something sorted!! :D

Thanks for all your help ppl, I will post any updates. :D

thats insurance companies for you..quick enough to take your money but very reluctant to give it back...when i bought my van, they said because of its value i should upgrade to commercial insurance, with the current value of a 2000 plate petrol transit surely i could put it back to private car policy if i wanted

just wrote out a letter. what do you people think? any improvement needed :?: :?

Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing this letter in regards to the settlement you sods offered, (Reg X992 DLE). Which you have stated is beyond economical repair. (apparently)

The offer I received from your spastic engineer who came to inspect the damages to my vehicle was for around £1600.00. It is yet to be confirmed if this price inc. Vat or ex. Vat. (Make up you F**king mind for god sake!).

I am not willing to accept this offer, as I think it is no where near as acceptable. (you taking me for an idiot?!) Along with this letter I have printed of various ‘van for sale’ adds found on the internet (along with some porno pics which I enjoy looking at whilst drving). There are a total of 9 adds and 990 porno pics I have found for vans with a similar spec to mine. If you work out the average price on these vans the price come to around £3200.00 roughly. The average age for a pornstar is around 26 and tit size is C cups. Now what size are yours?

So there is obviously something wrong with the estimate you have given me( were u high?). In the time I have had my van it has been very well maintained, no expense spared.

New genuine Valeo clutch around 4000 miles ago. New tyres all round (brand name tyres) (need them with all the wheel spinning I do) . New water pump around 2000 miles ago. Fully services 3 times by a local garage. New mintex brakes front and back around 3000 miles ago. New genuine Ford EGR valve around 5000 miles ago. Coloured coded all round. All this work has been carried out by the same garage by the name of ‘Red Star’. REmaped to 300BHP by Martin, induction kit, boi racer exhaust bull bars o yer most of this isn't declared BTW.

As you can see the vehicle has been well maintained. Also the engineer might have seen that the van is a very clean van for its age (but I take it he was a bild c***). Its not your everyday builders van. There is no way I can buy a similar spec van to mine on the money I have been offered. Come on for god sake we are in a recession here you guys just adding to it!!

I also believe the price I have been offered is not Market Value and it is Trade Value. I have searched many valuating websites, books etc and this seems to be the case. don't know why I have been offered Trade Value when I hold a private policy. Is this all because I am brown??

Look listen I might be brown and have a beard and turban but I swere down I aint binladen!! Trus total different beliefs not even the same religion……… (thanks god) sort it out yer!

So can you please take all this in to account and revaluate the market price for my van.
Sort it out m8!

Yours faithfully
S.S.Channa
