My attempt to drive steady to gain better mpg numbers probably won't last very long!
My attempts never do, I can manage 40 in the van, but not for long! It usually sits at 31.9
Yea, mine just crept over 40mpg driving from North Leeds to south of Wakefield on Monday but didn’t stay at that for long! The conservative driving style will soon go out the window no doubt.

Hey guys.

Just had my rear diff changed by the guys at Transaxle too, and very pleased with the service, he did it while I waited. Changed from a 5:11 to a 3:73 I believe.

Was revving at 2700 driving at 60 mph, now it's 2000. Was just over 3000 doing 70 mph, now it's just 2300.

It's a 2010 LWB 100 ps with 5 gears. Haven't tried it with a full load yet (I sell antique pine furniture), but reckon it'll be fine.

Got to be saving engine wear and fuel economy, very pleased..

My new mk6 is returning 37mpg, albeit with a slightly temperamental fuel gauge so it may be more.

Returning from Billing, I decided to try an economy run, 50 to 55 MPH, I think I passed one vehicle in the slow lane of the M1. A bit of a traffic jam for 10 minutes or so, other than that clear. 120 mile trip, 41 MPG, 90 T350 high roof, with mechanical pump conversion. :D .

Brimmed the tank at Billing, then brimmed it when I got back, then did the maths, so it is an accurate figure.

Weight doesn't make that much difference, when travelling on a relatively flat road, speed makes a big difference, (I'll explain the Maths if you insist ,) as does giving it some uphill. I'll bet if you dropped your speed by 10 MPH and let the speed drop a bit going uphill, you'd see a big improvement on what you got.

Speed is the big difference between good and bad MPG. I once did a trip up to Scotland and down east coast, on the way up I kept it to around 60mph and on the way back I booted it (the bloke I was working for finished me) and the difference was massive. Still managed 650 miles to one tank though and that was when it cost £110 to fill the van up.

If weight made a huge difference, then consider this, a fully loaded artic is somewhere around 40 tons, they do between 7 to 9 MPG, limited to 56 MPH.I stand to be corrected, by those who know better. A 3.5 ton Transit getting hammered down the motorway will perhaps do low twenties MPG, Multiply that by ten to get to only 35 tons and you get 2 to 2.5 MPG for shifting slightly less weight, the same distance.

Even if they travelled at the same speed as the trucks, they would be lucky to do much more than 35 MPG, which is still twice as much fuel for the same weight, travelling the same distance.

Mine does 2mpg less when the wife is with me. Not sure if its because she's fat, or that I need to drive faster so I can get her out sooner, but is def does less mpg

90ps/2.4 /4.63 diff

As you have replaced your 5.13 diff with a 4.63 and have not re callibrated your speedo, same as me, then your odometer is reading 11% fewer miles than you are actually doing, which means you got 33.3 MPG, If you had driven 10 mph slower you would probably have achieved roughly the same as I did. :D

On a job to Aberdeen and back yesterday i got 672 miles from a tank which i think works out at just over 39mpg. It was fully loaded going but empty coming back. I had the cruise control on most of way set at 70mph My van is a 2011 140 jumbo trend with a 3.73 axle
