Our N reg SWB 80 does 85 on a good day. Its had the Bollocks ragged off it but it still goes.

I have a SWB med-roof T280 with the 85ps 2.0. At the time I got it, I had a manual trans. Peugeot 406 V6, yet I was still highly impressed with the Transit, Ford seemed to do an excellent job making a commercial vehicle engine, an 85bhp engine should struggle with 1700-odd KG of van, but it does fine! According to the GPS, my clock is 4 mph out, at pretty much all speeds, which is damn accurate compared to a lot of stuff. It'll do 93mph on the level, which I was also highly satisfied with, and I've seen 98mph down a hill, not sure if it had any left, but seeing the needle at 104 for the first time in that thing sure was a thrill!

me 98 2.5di swb cruise 65/70. on way home from work will do 80 it dont like it but always seems faster in the early hours,better performance since exhaust replaced and been running it with acetone for a couple of months now ,and defo notice the difference when i dont put acetone in,oh small tip regarding squirting acetone into you tank,i have a 1 litre plastic bottle which i half fill with diesel ,i use a syringe to measure how many mills i need then squirt the acetone into plastic bottle then pour into tank,saves squirting 100%acetone straight onto plastic filler neck ,cant be good long term on the plastic, not to bad when its diluted to less than a mil to 1 litre of diesel thru your pump and fuel lines cheers H

Managed to squeeze an indicated ton out of her on the way back from
Keighly empty (had just filled up at a Texaco garage, seemed smoother & faster than Tesco's own !, but might be my imagination !) GPS showed 94.

My J-reg 2.5d 190 lwb semi-high top with wife,kids,dog,luggage and towing caravan will sit at 60/65mph untill you hit a silght gradiant then it's another story..... slows down a bit !

I was down to about 65 coming up the M1 towards Leicester Forest East services on Sunday Didnt realise how steep it was Will still cruise happily around 75-80 on a flatish road, cant say for sure though cos my speedo UNDER reads badly, I followed Luke down to Billing and he says he had anywhere between 60 and 75 on the clock, I had 45-55 but we were passing all the lorries

On ly way back from billing i had 102mph on GPS and still no where near the redline

Thats why I'm loathed to swap the back axle for a wider Mk4/5 one, I think I'll nip over to the back axle thread, need to know if I can swap my Mk3 diff into a Mk4/5 axle!

I'm carrying at least half a ton at all times last winter after I had swapped the engine and box I took everything out including the compressor and cabinets and went for a run up the A52, felt like I was driving a bloody racing car
