Yup! I noticed that too! As far as I know the last ones were C or D reg, (My grandfather had a D reg Mk 4) Also, when was the last time you saw an Allegro with black and silver number plates1111

Yes, the mk3 zephyr/zodiac ran from 62-66 before the huge square mk4 took over. as for allegros, it would probably have been more historically accurate to use austin 1100s as panda cars. a shame, a lot of production companies, when making "period" dramas, only ever seem to use cars that look brand spanking new. in 1973 you'd have seen rust eaten third-hand '50s crestas, worn out morris minors and prefects and millions of austin 1100s and mk1/2 cortinas, plus the inevitable bedford tk or ford D making high street deliveries. any epsiode of the sweeney is a good illustration of the street furniture of the time.as for the 2000E/gxl hybrid cortina...thats just lazy.still I suppose they had a budget to work to.

Plus of course it's not really a period drama, it's all a dream in the guys head! So they could say it's how he sees the 70s!!!
