Sorry to read about your mishap, just bear in mind a few things.
The insurance assessor works for them, not you.
They want to make money, that's why they are in business.
You do not have to take their first offer, or second.
The more facts you give them, re Tddi etc the better.
Ignore what it says on your logbook, DVLA do frequently screw up.
Get evereything THAT'S EVERYTHING in writing. Verbal is no good.
And the best way to put the shits up them as a last resort, is to ask politely, " woud you by any chance have the number and address for The Insurance Ombudsman please?". Don't just threaten them, get the details off them. Instant arsehole twitching!
Every person you speak to, ask for their name, operator number, and tell them that you are logging the call at x o'clock.
