rotor arm problem

Postby bj928 » Mon Oct 30, 2006 6:57 pm

as most will know, i have a 2.9i 1994 transit, now i am having a problem, i can't get a rotor arm for it, only want it so i can get it mot'd then its getting a 24v, but it appears that the rotor arm for the 2.9 transit has been discontinued, anyone shed some light, i broke the old one off trying to remove it, got a cap no problem, but rotor arm is not available.

if i can't get one i'll be forced to 24v it

Is it not just a 2.9 rotor arm?

i've been to 2 local motor factors, 1 is very helpfull, spent about 2 hours cross referencing part numbers, the transit is a motorcraft setup but uses a bosch cap, the cap is just a standard 2.8i capri item, the problem is bosch come in 3 shaft sizes for the rotor arm, something like 8mm 12mm and 15mm, the transit has a 10mm shaft ( these are approx sizes ), i'm guessing the transit uses a motorcraft rotor with a bosch cap, tried ford and they don't list the rotor just a complete new dissy. so as of yet i don't even have a part number for the transit rotor to find if it fitted anything else.

if i haven't sorted this by the weekend i think the 24v is getting put in.

well i've now been to the main ford dealer in kent that do vans as well and it is true, the rotor arm is no longer made and if i want a new rotor i need to buy a complete new dissy at £250, so its cheaper to fit the 24v engine so looks like the 12v is coming out before the mot rather than after it. should be running by sunday but without exhausts.
