Only have it a couple of weeks.
No service history with it.
Very well minded van not a mark on the body.
Putting the MPG aside, a small bit disappointed there is black sludge in the expansion bottle.
Engine oil clean not milky or nothing, just the coolant that is oily.

Waiting for the previous owner to get back to me.
Planning to get it booked in for a full service shortly.
Maybe the oil cooler was changed or it needs to be changed .
Just for a matter of interest when you say had it a full service.
To address the MPG issue what would be looking at during a full service

Thanks again

Fuel and air filters, oil quality will all affect mpg

19.5 mpg on a trip - 1978 Sundowner, (SWB Mk2) 4.1L manual, lightly loaded
19.5mpg on a trip - 1986 LWB Mk2, Holden 3.8 V6.

Basically identical fuel consumption! The LWB has the injected Holden engine, and make a lot more power, but is pushing a LWB with a 4.63 diff ratio. The Sundowner has an old school carb'd engine, but only pushing a SWB and has a 2.77 diff ratio.

My wife's 1996 Tourneo (banana engine) has been a faithful old thing for many years, taped up with 2 rolls of duck tape to cover the rust for last 3 MOTs, but she kept on going with this unbreakable engine! Unfortunately it only manages around 28-29 mpg at best, and thats with only 6 seats in her.
Its now finally consigned to becoming a chicken house, we are not up with the newer stuff but we are very interested in buying a 2006 Transit 300 MWB semi hi top 12 seater. Does anyone know very roughly what engine is in this and what MPG is likely to be expected?
Thanks all

Bump, anyone, pleeeease?

We are torn between a 300 MWB semi hi roof minibus (2.0 mondeo engine FWD i think) and a 350 LWB minibus which is 2.4 RWD. Can anyone tell me is one better than the other on fuel? It will make a big difference to us over the coming years so I want to know if there is any MPG advantage of either one, please.....

The 2.0 engine is a Transit engine, which was later fitted to Mondeos (or a version of it was) not the other way around

The 2.0 fwd will always be better on fuel

Oh right, that's really helpful thanks very much.
If the online vehicle checks don't tell me, is there any way to know what BHP a van is just by looking at it? SV55 NUM is the VRM if that helps. I have tried everywhere online from Ford to autocheck etc but nowhere says what the horsepower is. Am i right in thinking if its 100, than a remap is no use?

Sorry, the notification went into spam. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for that info :)

By the way, does anyone know if its possible to install one of these new android type double din stereos in the MK6 transit like mine! I mean these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BHY-J4perU

I think they are the wider layout than the hole I have in my dash which appears more square. Is there any way to make them fit, or are there any of these stereos which fit in my MK6 size dash slot?
I would rather not take a hacksaw to my dash, but if push comes to shove........ :D
