what a stupid rule dickheads need to look at things proply first! they should take the bloody car drivers off the road and let the vans and lorrys get on with there work!

oh so in the end the poxy car drivers get there lane 3 ,this is were they should stay and only lorry vans and coaches have the lanes 1 and 2 ,even if they come to a halt were somebody had poped somebody up the arse they shoud stay out there!
this will make the motorway even worse so we will have lorrys coaches and vans oh and 7and half tonners all in lanses 1and 2 !

I was going to post that too, it was in the Daily Mail. Notice it say vans over 3.5 tons. Most (though i know now not all) transits are up to 3.5ton. Waht about those registered after Dec 2004?? Or did they mean 2006? Well even if we were rated over 3.5 ton it wouldn't matter cos we are well before 2001!! I read newere vans will have to have limiters fitted. Not good

whell fred with you running your fleet you wont have to worry ,but most vans are mk6 now ! dont see many smileys up and down the motorway!

I use the motorways a lot, both with the lwb semihigh, and the Luton. The future could be fun, with the Old Bill pulling vans just on suspicion of being over the 3.5T limit, and getting all stroppy with us.

Looks like I will be doing a lot of driving on back roads from now on.

The Luton has a GVW of 3500Kg, I am assuming that is empty, so any load would surely push me over the weight limit?

i think gvw means gross vehicle weight, i.e. vehicle and load 3500kg

GVW = Gross Vehicle Wieght. Which means the van and it's load. I so hope you don't have a 3.5 ton empty luton! Do you mean 3500kg is what's on your V5 (log book)?

I realise that the weight is van plus load, but when I am carrying the contents of a three-bedroom house, how am I to know if it is over the limit or not? It might not be too much of a problem in the Luton, with its twin-wheel rear axles, they can take loads easier, but the lwb will be noticeable if the rear arches are low.

ironically both are rated for the same wieght/load. But you are right, the panel van will show the wiegh more, cos it's concentrated in a smaller space.

i think this is good but it should in corperate 3500kg, maybe a few sprinters might stay upright
