Great start to the day......

Postby Nathan_Cardiff » Sat Nov 25, 2006 9:28 pm

Jumped in the van this morning to go to work only to find i had a puncture.....

So without previously looking at the owners manual and never even looked at removing the spare before, simple job i thought.

What a b*stard mission that was, pissing down with rain and still half asleep.
45 minutes later, and soaked through i was done...

So tomorrow im throwing the jack in the bin and buying a trolley one and am gonna leave the spare in the back, that cable winding mechanism is crap

RANT OVER> sorry :x

that reminds me when we had a flat on the way to scotland...

high top. extra LWB. filled to the brim. didn`t have a hope in hell lifting it with the jack supplied.

passer by had a bottle jack, just about lifted it, then found the metal wing nut had rusted it self on the spare wheel holder.

the AA chap had to grind the bugger off.

nearly 4 hrs for a flat.

morel of the story, be prepared, think through what might happen and go through the recue proceedure.
jumbos do it standing up....

I made a frame up out of flat bar just a square put 2 pieces diagonally welded 3 long bolts on to match the PCD of the wheel studs.

Used some big self tappers to hold it to the door. slide the wheel on 3 nuts and its done. hasnt fell off yet. i got one on each back door :D
