is it me or have they all gone, every mk1 i see seems to be a SWB. not that i mind, all mk1's are nice, i know a couple of people here have got the german 190's but have all the english ones gone to the delivery round in the sky.

most have this is why the german option is the way to go! great shame but they seem to have been worked more than the swb so they didnt last!

Here in Germany only a very small amount of MK1 SWB vans survived! That's why I even look in the UK for them, too!

granadadriver i'm looking at getting a mk1 from germany around christmas time, would you be able to help in any way, have got one i've got my eye on but it will i expect be sold before i have the money ready, unless the price is flexable,

this is the one i would like to get if its still forsale in about 3 weeks.

Surely I can help you, in case of MK1 Escorts from Germany as you wrote in another post, too! Well, I wouldn't go for this one, because there are better ones around (less or no rust) for same price!

That's even a factory 2.0 Essex V4! Very rare in Germany and maybe the best for you in case of spares availability if you don't want to go for an engine conversion!

i like the idea of bring mk1 and mk2 2door escorts over as they worth a fortune over here, thinking of getting maybe one over to sell and see what the response is to the LHD,

as for shipping i have a plan!!! near me there is a salvage yard, they have empty car transporters coming over from eastern europe to collect cheap cars, and they seem to come over empty, i would guess some travel through germany!!!

i am looking at keeping body work as standard as i can but i think i will be putting a zetec 2.0 in with a 5 speed box for ease of running with unleaded, not looking to win prizes for most original but am looking maybe for film work where the engine being non standard isn't a problem.

no put a zetec in a transit, should be small enough to fit behind the flat front, and is with 136 hp should have enough power to make the transit quite lively, zetec in a rear drive is easy.

Never saw a Zetec in a flat front MK1, don't know if it fits without too much modifications? Actually I don't even know if the Zetec is shorter or longer than a Pinto engine! I'd prefer a V6, there's more torque and better sounds, though!

the zetec has the same bellhousing bolt patern as a pinto, and the bottom end is basiclly a CVH so a sierra CVH sump and starter sort out the rear drive conversion nice and easy, can mount it to a type 9 or MT75 box.

agree with the v6 but it would be a push to get it in, i know its been done, a duratec V6 from a mondeo would be nice and i think they are nice and small, and a 3.0 duratec from a jaguar X type or mondeo st220 has 231hp making it nice and powerfull, but i don't know of a bellhousing to fit the duratec v6 to MT75 box, type 9 wouldn't take the power.
