You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

I have to admit that having driven a MK6 yesterday my MK5 seems distinctly agricultural in comparisson.
Still it's my MK5 and I'm sticking to it. (at least until I can afford a MK6!)

Steve

Oh yes, merry chistmas to all! :D

Can't believe you lot :!: :!: :!:

You must have had some right ropey MK5s

I've driven MK6s and MK7s and even though there is some improvements made to things like slightly less vibrations coming through to the driver in the way they've insulated the steering wheel from the bulhead shake and given you an expensive DMF the only real improvement is the factory option of a more powerful engine :D (and about time :!: :!: :!: )

Other than that we have had people like madmark admitting to "only buy one with a waranty"

'Cause as you know when they go wrong, glow plugs or need front discs, you'll wish it was a MK5 :!: :!: :!:

Not to mention the easily dentable thin bodywork  And look at those weld marks on the very thin roof

Put any weight in the FWD transit and it sags so badly that with all the complaints Ford got, they had to come out with an "improved attitude pack"
This problem was addressed on the late MK6s :)

Don't get me wrong :!: The MK6 is an improvement to the driver, but not for the independant owner :!:

Good luck with your MK6s :D You'll need it :!:

  andy i love the mk6 cant falt it as i have said before!
i have had mine on its nees a few weeks ago and it drove fantastic not a problem ,it tows that well i forgot the caravan was there on the way too billing last time as i planted it into a bend!
,the only reason for me haveing warranty is i am getting too fussy in my old age and like things done by the garrage rather than me do it myself!
yes if things go wrong it will cost you a packet but then my mint mk5 turbo was no better when it needed a pump at £700   and a clutch ,and a exhaust, etc etc so there probly isnt much difrence in the both vans!
the mk6 is a good motor in my opinon and if it was a mk5 it would of been sold off by now!

I can't say the MK6 isn't a good motor :) It's just that there seems to be more negatives owning one :(

You'll probably upgrade when your waranty is up anyway

You say that your MK5 TDI pump was £700. But it's been quoted on this forum that the MK6 pump is £1500   That's two MK5 pumps I can have :D :D
