Which transit to get

Right im looking to buy a 2nd hand Transit for my new buisness , i was going to get a brand spanker however thinking about it its not a wise choice ill maybe spend 4k and 6months down the line review it.

So im looking at maybe a 51 - 53 plate Longwheel base not bothered about the height.

Its for landscaping so it will get alot of hard work done.

So my question is whats a good milage?

But is 100,000 miles alot for a transit? rekkon it would cost alot in maintenance etc?

TBH most ones of that age are gonna be 80-100k, maybe more

What you gonna actually use the van for? Tools people or materials? Cos most landscapers will have a tipper, usually with a crewcab.

Nah dont need a tipper the landscaping i will be doing is not the soft side but the hardside landscaping

Dekking , ponds , cascades , patios etc etc

i do not much but most if not all diesel engines are good for 180,000 miles these days so in my opinion 100,000 of serviced miles should not be a problem.

I like you thought about new but decided to buy 2nd hand first, but only after 1 month of ownership am thinking I will keep this van because of the ease of maintenance and there is alot of advice to got here within this forum.

And apart from that it will pay for itself quicker and then that will leave more surplus income to spend on reinvestment for the company!!

there seems to be an issue about tax and new vans which needs further investigation, and also you might want to look at the threads about towing with a transit

on a personal note the only thing i do not like about my transit is that since i am 6'2" buying a semi high top results in a sore head when i get in the back.

Yea well the last landsaping company worked for i had the new shape transit will o5 model and it towed like a beast never had any problems that was with towing tonnes of top soil , turg , mini diggers etc

it is more to with the gross train weight and type of licence held etc. and heard today from someone something about a tachograph for van and traillor where weight something, not entirely sure was to make posting on the forum about it.

tacho rules are so complecated there are loopholes like carrying stuff for hobbies on a sunday etc. you dont need one
