Whilst I agree with the sentiment behind the petition it won't change a thing, if the goverment want to bring it in they will, just like the Congestion Zone is a waste of time (but a good revenue idea) when Red Ken is finally replaced the Zone will stay. I wouldn't mind paying the Congestion Zone charge if I got the ability to park in the City as driving through it is of no use to me. The Emmisions Zone thing is the same thing, they will force me to buy a newer van...maybe or maybe not as no-one knows what actually applies to them. The only time a protest actually worked was the Poll tax thing and even that took time to be scrapped and just menat we went effectively back to the rates but surprise surprise the amount was very similar to what households paid with the Poll tax...so if they don't get you the first time they will get you the second.

Taxation

Mark M
When you say the only time a 'protest' worked was the poll tax riots,
You are perfectly correct, but it worked FOR the government.
Before the law bringing in the poll tax, the 'rates' were capped at £400(ish) the poll tax was introduced & made out to be an issue, riots & everyone feels better because the old 'rates' system was re-introduced WITHOUT A TOP LIMIT,.we were duped as the Americans put it.
We don't have a government here, we have the U.K. branch of the mafia.
Which reminds me...
Do you know the difference between the police & the mafia ?

The uniform !
I got a little black book with me poems in
Pallet Puller

I heard about this today and someone told me that if it does not reach a million by the date (20th feb) then it will not be recognised as a pettition?
