Yesterday I saw an Mk1 Police van on BBC (1)'s Life on Mars.
Normally I wouldn't have thought anything of it, but since the forum I am just wondering if it was one of Fred's Mk1's?
Looked in mint codition.

FredTransit wrote:Not for the want of trying! BBC Mancheter (where Lif On mars is made) are REALLY tight! I spoke to one of the props buyers (read accountant) and thier daily rate os very small. OK if you are supplying all of the cars and vans, but not good if you only have a few vehicles.

...... and they also had a Mk1 SWB panel van, chasing the "police" Allegro.

Made a bit of a mess of the Avenger Estate with the car bomb............ I hope the owner knew they were going to do that

I know who did most of the cars for the first series, when the kak hit the fan about the allegro pada cars (1980s models) they back pedaled and disowned the series. I reckon the Mk1 police minibus in the latest series (different to the one in the first series) was originally a minibus based treatment ambulance. You can tell by the roof line.

That cortina may be worth quite a bit due to its celebrity status but I dont think its actually in very good nick. on screen you can see the rear seat material is falling to pieces, things like window winder knobs missing, plus of course the fact that its idenity is confused. is it a 2000E or a GXL?
still having said that I wouldnt say no
