german fire engine on ebay

i notice the forum members fire engine just ended on ebay making £3100 and the reserve was not met now in the real world what is this van worth in its present state?? i know its rust free but other than that it has a LOT of downsides like the steering wheel position and the running gear, i think that was a very good price for this van what do you think

£3k is a lot for a toy, there arnt many people who can afford the space and money, £3k buys a good mk6

i think its well worth it, and the steering wheel position wouldnt but me off but i can see how it would some

would be interesting to see what it would make if the converts it to rhd and relists it

well after youve driven one you might just change your mind i drove one from milton keynes back down the m1 to the m25 and round to the dartford crossing with contraflows and stuff just put the indicator on , pray then manuver totally undrivable and 50 flat out as well and mine has a v4 essex 2.0 and not that 1.7 cologne

Geoff they are hard to price but if you really want a clean one they must be worth it. Yes 3k is a lot for people but in the end you can buy a rusty banger for £500 spend years souring parts full respray etc...and in the end will cost you as much. All these need are a cheap donor to convert to rhd, something well worth doing. Classics are on the up so i dont think you'll lose money. Mine owes me just under 3k all in and i hope shes worth that. I do agree the drivetrain is pretty shite 53mph max. Lets just hope a 4.63 axle helps! Just..

well i think his van is worth 3k all day long as it was rust free, yes it would need to go too somebody who was going too change it over to rhd or keep it as it is
but think of how much parts are out there a wing alone is around £300 if you needed one let alone endless welding and restoreing!
yes i spose this is the fun some would say in haveing a classic! but what if you cant doo the restoreation then this would be the way too go!
i cant weld under motors so this is why i opted for the german joby with the mint chassis so i dont have to worry about it!
all i have to worry about is my dents etc on the top half!

no i mean converting it to RHD wouldnt put me off, i wouldnt have one in LHD in this country

i think its a job that sounds harder than it is and it would put many people off but i think any average "diy" mechanic could do it, even if they couldnt weld they could get a mobile welder to come round and weld the box mount on

you and me both luke! when i first drove mine in milton keynes i thourt my god i couldnt even see too get out onto the daul carageway from the petrol station so no way was i putting up with this as its bloody dangerous
so this i thourt time to make my mind up sell or keep and convert to rhd! i had herd of it beeing done before as i can remember seeing a landliner camper many years ago with the wipers round the wrong way and the heater controls the wrong way round! so i new it had been done before so it was a gamble but i thourt what the hell go for it and i am glad i did i could not drive around in a lhd version its so dangerous!
