EX RAC VAN OWNERS

Postby wronghole » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:50 pm

Just wondering how many members on the forum own a ex rac van .it would be nice to know what mods you've done how it drives ect . I have had mine for 2 years now and she has just hit 110,000 no major probs.
Just some of the mods l have done. Alloys, cruise, led lighting throughout high level stop and tail even managed to get the rac gemel alarm system to work .I will put some pics up soon, when I've worked out how to do it lol  cheers.

Similar to yourself.

Cruise
Insulated ply lined and carpeted.
240v plug in protected sockets and led lights. Will probably look to change them to full 12v shortly as thinking of doing a leisure battery.
Checks
Led fog lights
Reverse cam and new stereo
Had it nearly a yr 92k
Was considering alloys but might powder coat the steels as its a work / leisure van and dont want to trash lower profile tyres and rims.
Interested ref the alarm where is the sounder etc? I think alot of my wiring was temoved so thatcmay be gone but worth a look!

Sounds great. As far as the alarms go , there's a fuse distribution board behind the drivers seat you need to locate the supply. The brain box is behind the drop down glove compartment. The siren is under the nearside panel near above and behind the water coolant bottle. You shouldn't need to touch that as all the gubbins are behind glove box as mentioned. Hope that helps.

Nice one fella. Think the rear diff change should be top of the to do list as the original 5.1 revs the nuts out of it on motorways. Was one of the first mods l tackled some 2 years ago on mine . The cruise is great but have not got high spec speedo yet . The ambient temp sensor and indicator stalk is fitted and switched on (VAN TUNER) Just waiting for a good one.

Looks good fella. If l wasn't semi retired I'd ave the rocket launches off you but don't need em now I'll be taking mine off soon and turning Jaffa into a day van.
Still got a big list to do on her though:
Clean inlet manifold, egr delete, wheel arch trim , paint roof, new clocks, treat tin worm, remap fitted seat covers ect.the list goes on.
