So much crap for sale

Postby screechowl » Fri Apr 08, 2016 5:01 pm

I've never seen so much crap for sale for centuries ! Why don't people be honest like me & just scrap em in instead of covering it all up & trying to make a fortune out of some sucker who'll buy it. To the other extreme are to luxury priced newer Transits you have to be a millionaire to own :-(

I think I'll have to buy a sprinter or something, cant go on like this with no van....

Sorry, I wasn't referring to anything for sale on the forum I meant generally, ebay etc. On here folks usually honest, if they're selling crap they sell it as crap.

I'm just getting peed off with not having any transport since November when I scrapped my van. Not much to spend on another & don't want another pile of rust but that's all there is unless you've got 5 grand to spare

Bound to be some bargains here :-)

Most are off the road by accident rather than neglect.

50 pounds to join for the year.

Worst case the money you should save should compensate you for any possible remedial work.

There are a few mk6 and mk7 by me
All close to 200.000 miles for between £1600 to £2300
All company owned looked at 2 of them for the lads
But as you say not as good as stated when I got there
But for the money not bad

I've seen loads with high mileage that look ok for that price, but I've never bought a high mileage motor before so very sceptical  Dealers buy them all the time & they're always having to get new engines, how much is a new engine for a mk7 a fortune & it's the hassle & then other stuff goes on them. Aint it best to get something with 10k per year max?

I'll check hills out but not paying 50 squid a year

Low mileage doesn't mean better, it may have been used on lots of local round town work, so worn clutch, worn gearbox, worn doors, seats etc
A high mileage van might have joined the motorway first thing and sat at 70 till it got where it was going!

We sold some vans last year, the best of the bunch was the one that had done 180k miles

At the budget you have condition is far more important than mileage

2021 Ford Transit Custom 300S Active 170ps

Maybe best to look for a front wheel drive, because they have a lower floor than a RWD
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

I've had a med roof remember?? So sick of banging my head & chopped the roof off & put my old hi roof on?? Cost me feckin fortune, but it was good job & then I sold it...
But I'll never get another med roof again, has to be hi top or open air bus 8)
Thanks for the tip about FWD, they're nearly always rear tho.
