sadly no longer on the road, we had a 65 on a D plate! She was stolen after we had to leave her on a housing estate with siezed brakes. I followed the big black lines for a couple of miles hoping to find her, then the brakes must have banged free and the lines stopped, there was no transit at the end of them

Yup....

as far as ford know, that C-plater is the oldest ford transit still in existence...they searched high and low for the oldest transit they could find...ironically, it was still driving into there front gates every day....

Holy sh*t! That must be one of the road going prototypes that were tried out pre-release. I've seen it in books but would love to see the real thing.

Thames bits

Postby petervanlee » Sat Mar 26, 2005 10:19 pm

The Thames bits on the van are the seats, wheel bearings, internal switches, horn and loads of electricle bits as well. that's all I have found so far but I have a feeling there are loads more yet to find. Ford used all the old Thames stuff up on Transits at Langley and ran out in november 1965. still working on this van. Phil will be pleased to here I have one on the road at least. I have an idea he wanted the 65 on the road first as I did. he helped me put a V4 in it. that lump came out of a LWB police transit a while ago ( I made the tea and Phil and some friends fitted it and did a real good job ) it starts first time every time just needs the panels put back on and a respray and I am there....... peter
