highest mileage transit

Postby kennyb11 » Fri Jul 06, 2018 10:57 pm

hi folks hope your well I have a 2002 jumbo transit 2.4di engine which ive owned for 13 years .ive kept on top of the rust over the years and the bodywork is in pretty good shape, also sound mechanically (thanks to good advice here) sailed through mot last week with 312,000 miles on the clock. im curious to know the highest recorded mileage on a transit van? Am I in with a shout or will I sell the mig?

Ma auld 2.2 130 had done 364000 before it past away just before Christmas.
Now at 402000 but don't suppose that counts for anything seeing its a replacement second hand engine

Aye but it's not just the engine that has done that mileage the whole van has so technically it still counts :D 8) N

My MK3 transit got 398980 owned from 39500 miles on 2 litre petrol pinto engine , broke 3 fan belts in its life , worn one out 1cam and replaced crap vv carb with a twin choke Webber, worse on fuel but sounded great ....
Only problem I had was the oil pump was stuck at 5 bar , my garage mate said its why the engine was so sweet , scrapped the van but sold the engine to a taxi driver who wanted the block for his car ..
Best van I had
2016 custom 2.2 swb ( current)
mk7 100 t330s 2.4 RWD.
Mk5 smily 2.4 RWD
MK3 2.0 pinto transit.
T3 2.0 air-cooled VW transporter.
Cf Bedford 2.3 litre petrol .
1972 ford F150 5.0 LWB straight 6 petrol pick up
Mini van ...1100cc .... First vehicle.
