totally pissed off with asshole mechanics these days

Been for MOT last week and told mechanic steering veers to the left sharply...said ball joint was the cause yet one side is markedly lower than the other...took it too another garage who fitted the ball joint...no friggin difference, couldnt be arsed to test the van to see if it had corrected it...all they want is your money then f*** you off.Went to ATS for a second opinion and asked them if it could be tracking but basically didnt have a f*** clue either...brainwashed bloody robots...so i did some research on line and found this:

1. Vehicle is tilting to one side
One of the duties of the suspension springs is to keep the vehicle balanced on equal sides. When a spring has collapsed or is showing signs of premature wear and tear, one of the common side effects will be that one side of the car will appear to be higher than the other side. When you notice that the left or right side of your vehicle appears higher or lower than the other side, have a local ASE certified mechanic inspect and diagnose the problem as this can affect steering, braking, and acceleration among other problems.

So it failed MOT on a ball joint?
You took it elsewhere to get this rectified?
Then you went to ATS?
Then gave up because the people involved wanted money?

Suerly a bust spring or excessivly worn bushes (associated with steering/suspension) would have been flagged up by 1 of the garages you visited.
Did ATS sell you an oil and coolant change to sort it?

Is the van FWD?
Does it pull off to 1 side when acelerating?

forget that just checked your other posts.

Has the van got a steering rack or a box?

Had similar years ago in a Mk3.
Driving along then hit a bump and the van was on the hard shoulder/grass verge in the blink of an eye.
Steering box was fubar (didn't show any wear when stationary)
ne m'écoute pas je suis plein de merde.
A house without a dog is like a forum without a BJT.
Too bloody quiet

If your spring isn't brocken,Try swapping your front wheels over , usually its tyres that cause steering pulls, if your ball joint was fooked the tyre would have been wearing at a certain angle which can cause the pull, swap wheels over and see if pull goes opposite way (sometimes just the the swap cures the problem) ....then you know it's tyres thats causing it
