Hi Folks.
It's been a while since I've posted a update on how I was getting on with the Mk8 LWB EL van. She's been with me now for close on two years and the mileage is now up 166,000 miles with the last set of Michelin tyres having done over 103,000 miles! No real issues other than the re occurring hill start, ABS and Cruise control stopping working from time to time,at every service Paynes Of Hinckley our local Transit specialist dealers had a look at it but couldn't find anything wrong, then as the warmer weather came things settled down and all through the spring and the early part of the summer there were no warning messages coming up. Then out of the blue up on the dash display came up message after message stating that the ABS, Hill start, Cruise control and one or two other things had stopped working, 5mins later the engine management light came on but the engine still ran fine, Back into Paynes it went (The first time it had actually been into a Ford garage for anything other than a service) and within two hours they telephoned to say the van was ready for collection. It turns out that all along it was a engine map sensor that was slightly playing up but it wasn't until it triggered the engine management light that it recorded a fault with the map sensor, anyway that was replaced under warranty even though the Transit was out of warranty as the fault had first been recorded by Paynes over a year ago and now all seams to be good once again.
Overall I honestly cannot fault the Mk8 once I got used to driving it (I had my Mk7 Jumbo for 9 years and did 750,000 miles in her) so getting into anything different will take a while to get used to, the Mk8,it's whisper quite and has done everything i've asked of it. Pretty good fuel economy if I take my time, she contantly gives my 38/40 plus mpg,Really lovely clear dash display and very good storage under the passenger seats etc.
