Scrapping donor van

Postby rckape » Mon Aug 19, 2019 3:20 pm

It's been 20 years since I last scrapped my own vehicle. My Mk 7 has reached the end of its useful life following a pretty catastrophic showing at its last MOT. I'm wanting to strip it and keep the parts for my next Mk 7 project. The problem I've got is the new laws requiring a certificate of destruction for the old van. It's not as simple as it used to be: strip it, cut up the bodywork for the local scrapper and return the V5 with the scrapped box ticked. I'm a responsible person and will of course collect and dispose of the fluids and other unwanted parts in a legal and ecologically responsible manner. Has anyone come across this issue in recent years? what did you end up doing?

Cheers,
rckape

When you take the shell to the scrap metal merchants, just give them the V5 and they register the destruction.
