It would probably cost you more to do your O license and your CPC than your materials and timber

I know, that's why I was asking if I could pick them up in the 7.5t and deliver the product in the 3.5t

Maybe I'll just drive overloaded like every 3.5t recovery truck in existence?

(No i will be legal whatever I do)

How often are you going to be collecting materials?

It's all up the air at the moment I'm still not ready to start up, but collecting info.

Might even be fine with the 3.5t van doing a trip /day.

I think with the right machine to make the pallets I'd do...

30 mile run am or pm depending on collection. Then 2hrs manufacturing then 1hr delivery.

So it would fit in the working day based on what I know.

But if the 7.5t option was available for collecting wood then it would probably get used once a month

Stick to the back roads and stay off the main roads to keep away from VOSA

If your buying in bulk once a month would it not be more cost effective to get it delivered? No running cost of the 7.5t then, you need to take into account insurance, tax, fuel ect, both options are tax deductible.

I can't imagine it would be worth running a 7.5 tonner to use once a month, apart from the fact that you're sailing close to the wind with VOSA.

Once a fortnight in the 3.5 tonner would be more cost effective, but as said, can you not get it delivered :?:

Probably be once a day in the 3.5t or maybe 3 times a week.

If I'm in the place i have wink oranges and lemons

Then a 44ton lorry may be slightly conspicuous

I think though that if insurance for me on a 7.5t might be high enough to prove too much.

Other options are a curtainsider trailer 3.5t.
But that makes the lottery and trailer maybe 12m?

Bit tricky to get in.

Anyway.....
Still thinking

Is it worth the risk? He’s already posted here that he’ll be using it for financial gain. Insurance companies will go a long way to mitigate their losses these days and the main reason for that is people being dishonest.

How are they going to know who he is? C'mon

The DVSA have access to ANPR and also there own system which flags up non O Licenced vehicles.

There policy is Stop on site of all LGVs not appearing on the O licence register ( their own system) which is mainly Hire vehicles.

O licencing is all done on line nowadays, gone are the 30 days grace period for hire vehicles on your Margin.
