Yes I see that thanks, I knew they were open for emergency repairs but not MOTs until I looked at the details for the van in that post and panic set in,
I thought I had missed an update.

Not all MOT places are closed, I had the son's car MOT'd about a month ago. He's stationed abroad, left his car on my drive, and the test had run out before the lockdown.

Eldest lad got his Shazda Mot'd last month.
Mind you it didn't qualify for the extension as it'd been off the road for over a year

I've just booked another son's car in for MOT next week, that one ran out in May 2019 and has been parked up off the road since then

Let's hope that the failure list isn't too long :P

I'm not sure that's correct... the MOT date is extended by the government and if you check online that's when the MOT is valid until... i.e. you still have a valid MOT. The normal condition from insurers is that you must have a valid MOT, which you do!

The press are now reporting that anything with an MOT after 31st July will not get an extension...

So I am wondering if there is enough capacity in the system to do a years worth of MOT tests in 6 months? I guess probably not. Get your MOTs booked in early guys!

Just a heads up as this has just happened to a friend.
If you are on an MOT extension and you put your car in for test early and it fails, you loose your extension and you've now got no MOT.
Also I don't think they add up to a month on if it passed like they normally do.
