Hi Folks.
I trust i find you all keeping well at this most difficult of times. Just a update on my Mk8 Lwb El Transit. The mileage is now up to 268,000 miles and apart from a rather expensive gearbox replacment last year all is going really well.
It went in for it's 270,000 miles service last week, bought forward a little bit as i was'nt sure if our Transit specialist dealer would be open for business in a couple of weeks time with the Covid virus etc.As it is Paynes Of Hinckley have closed all vehicle sales and car servicing with Transit servicing, for the time being only being carried out through the day,no night shift.
The rear pads and discs were replaced but i think i've had my pennies worth out of them as they've been on the van for 170,000 miles! I had the tyres swapped from back to front to even the wear out, what was the rear tyres are now 60% worn having done 70,000 miles and what were the front ones are about 40% worn, hopefully i'll get at least 100,000 miles out of the set of Michelin tyres. The only other thing that needed replacment was the fuel filter as the warning message was coming g up on the display. According to the dealer service report there's nothing else to worry about.
Work had been quite good up until this week delivering parts into Airbus at Broughton but they sadly closed last week, i had the honour of taking in the last load of parts for Airbus before it was all closed for the foreseeable future. The other work i have been doing recently are labels for cans and bottles of food and drink and pharmaceutical products, but since the slowdown the company i subcontract into can cover all the work themselves so it looks like i have a few weeks to polish and clean the van.
Anyway, i'll wish you all keep safe and well.
Best wishes~Dom.
