vans as quick as cars

Why are'nt vans as quick as cars some are that are built properly and looking at customs I'm suprised it'll pass an mot let alone any thing on the road

Yes and thats exactly what I mean

1 done properly is as quick if not quicker than some cars

But some that are thrown together arn't

I know plenty of fast vans from all over the country and not just transits

Vans are geared for torque. They aren't sold on 0-60 rating but how many bags of sand or crates of beer you can fit inside them.

If you compared a Ford escort van to an escort car, the car would out perform the van for speed but not once you stuck half a tonne of sand in. If I remember rightly (I am no expert on this) the escort van engine has a lower compression in comparison to the car engine. Also the gearbox is geared for grunt not speed.

All i can say is when i gave mark a race in his mk6, i was in a rover 600 turbo it took me a while to catch him up He's got one serious van there. The ultimate Q-van

I know what yer saying mate but it the engine that produces the torque not the gearbox

If I was to use a diesal gearbox in say an rs turbo you might as well not use 1st gear

Either way though they have there uses

Fast vans are sweet as the are sleepers

Oh and just for the record the Ford I4 engine as used in the rs2000 and the galexy was built for torque and will out perform a standard cosworth turbo engine from 70mph -100mph and thats fact as proven by ford them selfs

So unless the van is kicking out about 350bhp its always gona be behind

Whys that then a trantsit is nearly 3 tons and the cosworth v6 is only about 190bhp

well ive driven both so i have experiance in this area
you WILL see me at the santa pod meet and as they say proof will be in the pudding last rst i took down the strip was 16.16@88 and that wasnt even standard - what does a standard one make it in
