Trial time...

Postby Scooby doo » Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:54 pm

I know iv been away for a while, but, and this is a big but...
I’m looking at a van, not literally with my eyes as I can’t get to Colchester, so story is
Transit trend 280, 2.2 125bhp, it’s got 200 on the clock but body is clean, mot history is clean...
I can get it delivered for under 3k...but guys just said it’s gone into limp mode and thinks it’s down to the egr valve so replaced that same problem, put old one back on, it’s still there, mechanic said to him could be stretched chain...
Do I take the plunge and get it or just keep looking???

2.2 125 will be a E5 so most possibly be a dpf issue

That’s what I’m thinking Ned...still an easy fix and still worth a flutter, chain issue means she wouldn’t run at all, I wish I could drive down there see it and make my mind up, but with Xmas, work and COVID it’s ny on impossible, and £2900 delivered to Wycombe I can’t really loose...
The reg is ax12 dzn if you run it through mot it comes back super clean, mileage don’t bother me, the condition does..

Wycombe UK (if that is where you are) to Colchester UK is only 100 miles lol, ain't even far. What's stopping you? It's gunna cost you nothing to get there. I drove 150 miles to get my Jumbo when I had it. Think you should deffo go and view it. A mate of mine drove to Cornwall from LONDON to pick up his Volvo... Now that is a journey worth thinking about.

EDIT: X mas, work & covid  completely forgot about covid.

You right tho Ned, it’s a gamble, but I’m really running out of options fast...limp mode can be numerous things, iv asked him if he could try and source the codes of it, I’m assuming with the mk7s they need the egr code reset if that was a course for the limp mode...

I can’t fault it’s mot history neither, not an ounce of rust issues, yes it’s got 200 on the clock, but that’s just a number in my eyes, if I do get it, first things first would be a reader to read these codes find the fault then go from there, full ford service to make sure everything is tickety boo..need to get this green one gone while she still has test on it...

Crying inside because apparantly there is a very real possibility that we will enter more severe restrictions than TIER 4!
