MK8 Update

Postby Dominik1968 » Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:19 pm

Hi Folks.

Just a little update on my Mk8 L4 H3 Transit, the last few months have been extremely busy, clocking up around 8,000 miles per month, a few days we've done over 500 miles on trips around the country, the mileage is going up fast but then when you do trip such as this one which was Atherstone To Liverpool, then down to Slough, back to Liverpool, over to Nottinghamshire and home again that's not surprising, that was 737 miles that day and over 41mpg.
No real issues of late apart from one of the pulleys seized up as i was queuing for the East Cowes ferry one Friday at Southampton back in August, it shed the belt that does all the power steering etc but it still got me on the ferry, to my delivery and thankfully back to the ferry and the mainland. Sadly the AA took over 12 hours to get me back to the Ford dealers at Hinckley due to the sheer volume of calls and a lack of drivers.
The current mileage now stands at over 374,000 miles (over 600,000kms) and it's due for another service on Monday evening at our local Transit specialist dealer. The last service was 7 weeks ago and the one prior to that was 8 weeks and that's on a 15,000 mile service interval!
I'm so glad i went for the Metallic Tectronic Silver paint option as its really rare, when i say rare I've only seen 5 other L4 H3 Transits in that colour
Things have slowed up a touch over the last month but even so it looks like the mileage will be close to 390,00 by the end of the year and 420,000 by 1st March 2022 and the van celebrates its 6th birthday.
As more and more cities are introducing ultra low emission zones and given the miles being clocked up i took the leap back in mid September and ordered a new van which with a bit of luck will be on the road 1st March 2022.
Running a vehicle with ad blue will be a first for me as the 16 plate Transit was towards the end of those produced without adblue so we will see how we get on.

HI.

The Mk8 Transit was on a 15,000 mile service interval which was always carried out at Paynes Of Hinckley, Leicestershire. It helps us as they are a 24hr dealership so I'm able to drop the can off in a evening and either collect it late at night of very early the next day.

Hi there.
The news on the new Mk8 us that i collected it from the Ford dealership five weeks ago already, just as work took a bit of a dip, typical! Anyway so far so good, clocked up it's 5,000 mile today. So far, so good, to say i'm over the moon with it so far is a bit of a under statement.
Still aiming to make Transit Mania on the Sunday so hopefully see a few of you there.
