BT BOX VAN TO TIPPER

Hi everyone, ive just bought a 2001 51 plate ex BT mwb box van and was woundering how hard or easy it would be to convert it to a tipper, as i have seen a lot of traders selling them as tippers, or if i can get a pick body and convert that to a tipper as they are more available second hand.
any advice would be greatfull

Welcome craig. It shouldn't be too hard, and the body bolts off in one, and the tipper should bolt on in the same way. You can either sell the box body or keep it as a shed. It helps if you know somebody with a fork lift or hiab to get the old body off though.

Do you know if i can convert a pick up body to a tipper as there are more available, then just buy the tipping gear seperate,

On our Mk2 the chassis has been shortened by about 2ft to allow for the body to drop down at the back, but I don't know what was done to fit the tipping gear. Ironically it started life as a luton but the tipper was fitted before we got it. If you can find a a tipper of the same age as the chassis you are planning to convert have a good look and see if there are any other changes, as the chassis start life the same.

best of getting a steel floored tipper as most normal dropsides are wooden floored

look on ebay m8 and as fred said look at mk6,s that have been converted

most of the conversion ones up here are electric tippers

Cheers for that, as it happends i sold it the other day so now not sure weather to just buy a tipper all done instead, but i may go for a 7.5 ton with hiab as i want it for the scrap work im getting into,
