Hi
I don't see a thread for discussing the new E-Transit, are there any owners or drivers here?

What are your thoughts and experiences with the all electric Transit van?

Hopefully I am going to get the chance to drive one and have a good poke around one at Dunton next weekend...

Anything in particular you would like me to look out for?

I guess my main concern is reliability, maybe it is too early to tell as no one has had these very long yet.

In theory from my understanding they should be more reliable than a diesel Transit, less moving parts but more complex with the electronics and battery systems.

There is understandable with the price tag nearly double that of the equivalent diesel Transit, limited range currently available and presumably plummeting depreciation over the next 3-5 years.

Around here, Amazon, and DPD seem to have invested in some Electric vans, so i would say that they're eminently suited for short range multi-drop deliveries by large companies who can negotiate favourable lease contracts and offset the losses against tax.
I can't see many small fleet or owner drivers queueing up to buy them, with their hefty price tag, and limited range.

A small diesel generator installed in the back may make them a bit more useful :idea:

I think the concern is more to do with range and charging time....

For anyone who wants a work van, unuseable.
750 kg tow rating, a small car can tow more.
They are almost immediatly available.
After i had waited more than a year for my awd transit i asked what is available, the e-transit...
Than i asked what can it tow and how far, very silent.
Waited another 6 months for my awd transit.
A local Man dealer tried the Man e-tge it reached 90 km on highway with no payload just 3 people and riding slow. He will not sell it.
Maybe the nex gen will be for trades people ( at least 2.5ton towing with 150km range while towing would be the absolute minimum).
Charging is not possible on a worksite.
