Ford transit van timing belt snapped 73000 miles 18 plate

Postby Nataliek22 » Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:55 pm

Hi looking for some advice.

My brother in laws timing belt has snapped and obviously the engine is gubbed.

Its a 2018 plate with 73000 miles on the clock been serviced regularly (not ford) at the local mechanic me and my partner use and have done for years.

My mechanic told me to search online with Ford for a recall and there's a customer satisfaction programme or something for oil dilution. So my mechanic has said he would be chasing ford first before forking out for a new engine.

I have emailed ford obviously stating if he had new about oil dilution recall this might have not happened.

I don't even know why it's not a proper recall because when I phoned them before telling them the belt had snapped they told me yes there is a recall for oil dilution but said that wouldn't snap the belt it's a software issue are they just trying to fob me off? I have seen so much online now about theses belts a just don't know if it's worth the while going after them etc. Has anyone else won over this?

Thanks

Hi Luke

Just wondering what the outcome of your attempts with Ford were? My 2018 transit has blown 2 injectors and has been written off, im learning it could be to do with this oil dilution. How did you go about approaching Ford? Thanks, hope you got yours sorted!
