No it's not against the law, plenty of people have them. I was going to get one myself. Personally I think they improve the look of the van and will save you a minor repair when someone reverses into you in Tesco's carpark :P
However I think you have to weigh that up against the fact that they make your van much more dangerous to pedestrians. It's a personal choice. I've never run into anyone but I know it could happen and if I caused someone a serious injury or even killed them because I had fitted a bullbar I couldn't live with myself. It's a tricky issue.

yup very tricky issue, some whould argue that a flatter front is better as its not likely to throw the pedestrian up and into the windscreen as much

didnt top gear or one of those programs do a test on a rangerover or something similar versus a lower fronted vehicle with some unexpected results recently ?

i thought you couldnt fit em after a fairly recent cut off date, if its part of original spec its ok (hence crappy ali things on merc ml 4 x 4 etc) but retro fit i was under impression its a no no

another grey area i think, the law seems to be full of them :D people keep telling me there illegal but i have been stopped by loads of traffic cars and they havent mentioned anything about them, they were more concerned about my tax disc being upside down

Have had plenty of traffic cops look at mine but none have said anything, the bullbar couldn't be much bigger!
