MOT exempt island? Good thought to begin with, bad in the long run. How many classic vans would just fall in half if they weren't MOT'd every year? Even keeping it up every year, every few MOTs we end up with a nasty suprise with a lot of welding, even if it's had a bit the year before! The march of time, ya can't escape it!

I think in place like that where you don't have to have an MOT there tend to be harsher penalties if your van found to be unroad worthy especially if it has been involved in an accident
Also most people have no idea when it comes to the mechanics of their vans/cars so they wouldn't have a clue if it was a death trap. Atleast with an MOT most major problems would get picked up
Its not your own van you have to worry about, its the other idiots out there!
