Just buy a plate on ebay. So long as it doesn't have fancy fonts or logos and is the standard size it'll pass an MOT

i mean by the stamp i have heard but now days you have to have them done at autospares something like that and show them your logbook etc wounded if thats true

You're supposed to have to show them the logbook (not in Scotland though). All an MOT tester cares about is that it's there and not some silly font/size etc

I know exactly what you're saying, I just have to read it a couple of times. It was actually the wounded bit that confused me. I think you mean wondered?

I have enjoyed reading your posts and encourage you to persevere with your project. Don't spend too much money on it because you are unlikely to get it back. You will however gain invaluable experience. I would also recommend you let prospective employers know of your hobby, since it speaks volumes of your commitment to the task in hand. From any employer's perspective that is good. Best of luck.

As for the number plate I don't believe you have to have a dealer stamp on it (in fact you can have your own text inserted - Chelsea FC in my case (sad as that may be for some)). They are supposed to ask for the V5 document to stop people getting false plates made up.

i think the law states that factors making plates must see a v5 document for the car AND include a sticker contiaining the name and address of the maker. point of sale

it doesnt however say that the drivers plates must contain info.
so you can get what you want if you can find somewhere willing to do it.
once again the gov make life harder for the honest and do noting to solve the problem of dodgy people with fake plates. as we all know they will still get them
