In Which Countries Can You Buy a Transit?

Postby erniech » Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:55 pm

Hi, As I'm sure many of you have, I have a copy (and have read it from cover to cover) of the book "TRANSIT" - The 40 year Story of Britain's Best Loved Van.

In this book it states that Transit is sold in 55 Countries throughout the world (page 112).....but it does not go on to reveal which countries these are.

As an Australian , I was fascinated to read this, as I was always under the impression that this van was marketed virtually only in Britain, with the exception of the very odd Commonwealth country, like Australia.

I was wondering if any members out there could shed a light on the extent that Transit is marketed around the world....and maybe even provide a list of of those 55 countries...or give me a steer to where I might be able to find out this information.

All the Best.....and Happy Vanning.

Trev from Down Under.

We are getting there slowly.....but we are not even halfway there yet.

I have sifted through many Ford Websites, but have been unable to find a list anywhere.
Sorry , I'm not big on the cut & paste thing....but I have just realised that Malaysia is another that you can definitely buy a Transit.

In the rear of the Transit book (page 138 &139) it has a list of countries that actually produced transits....but most of these countries certainly no longer do so...including Australia....but one would assume that Ford still markets Transits in these Countries
The list of Countries is as follows

UK (of Course)
Belgium
Turkey...these 3 are of course still in production....the rest, excluding China who still produce the Mk 5, are not.

Netherlands
Australia
Portugal
Belarus
China
Ghana
Ireland
Israel
Malaysia
New Zealand
Pakistan
Philippines
Poland
Senegal
Singapore
South Africa
Thailand
Trinidad
Vietnam

I guess it would be fairly safe to add these countries to the list. Does the club have any South African members who could clarify the African situation?

It seems that they probably are marketed throughout Africa, certainly Europe, fairly well through Asia, with a nose in Central America (Trinidad)
