I've just swapped from a Mk5 to a Mk6 & the mk5 can't beat the mk6 for comfort it's more like driving a car you can have the radio on & talk to someone without shouting. Can't comment on reliability yet I'll have to let you know in 6 months on that one. Although I don't supose after snapping the timeing chain you could just straighten the push rods with a lump hammer & put on a new chain sometimes simple is best

my 2.5 diesel went 60 miles without a fan belt without overheating.you can pick up every part for it cheaply at the scrappy.i changed its engine for a total price of £260.
just the fuel pump on a 2.4 duratec costs over £1000.ive gone through 4 starter motors,1 flywheel and now the engine is being stripped down.in the 2.5 you can talk if under 40 m.p.h. which is all i drive anyway.just a shame it wont pass the lez limits in 2010 or i would drive it forever.

Nothing to stop you fitting one, except maybe the emissions for the test.....
