Am I the only one who is stunned that Ford Motor Company with all there experience cant sort out a Starter Motor or an Alternator that lasts more then 6 Month's?. It seems the New Shape Transits are ALWAYS in a garage having either done!

Cant believe the crap standard of the Ford Transit right now. Ford judt seem to be dropping the ball and living on past glory of the Transit.

My God even the (SHOCK HORROR) Renault Traffic is more reliable!

I can't believe the amount of new Transits that are having problems. spoke to my local dealer and he actually agrees that the current build quality is very very poor.

don't be ridiculous

it's not usually the starter itself that fails - it's gummed up by debris from a misdiagnosed failing DMF - thats dual mass flywheel (for the slow thinkers ) - not changed a single alternator on a 2000 on transit yet and I look after dozens of them

Assuming you are from said company who's name you are using, how about YOU build some quality stuff? I wouldnt even consider buying from that company

I work in the Motor Trade and we get a transit aday into our workshop. The Local Ford Dealer ship mechanics are always joking that they are about as reliable as Sinclare C5!

Oh, and ask why the AA are having serious problems with Ford Transits when they put there recovery dolly in the back of them. Aparently the Van Jack Knifes when Towing VERY EASY. Funny how this problem is not seen on the Renault/Vauxhall/VW vans they have!

I Agree! But the Ford Transit used to be miles ahead of other vans. Now they are just holding on to the lead if not falling away from other vans such as the VW T5
