Carpet adhesive for roof?

Postby pictishpunkgirl » Sat May 17, 2008 1:37 pm

If I want to put very lightweight carpet on the roof of my van to stop condensation, which adhesive would I use? Can't hold it up while it dries.

vynyl floor tile adhesive, the brushable stuff not aerosol. get it from b&q, paint it up, wait for it to go tacky, stick carpet up, job done.

Personally I'd just use the spray on glue, spray on the carpet and the roof then stick up.

spray mount is not doing a good job of holding the headlining up in the camper reversion, I am about to take it down and re stick it with evo stick, which is what I should have used in the first place but was looking for a quick fix.

Spray mount and spray glue are 2 totally different things.

Thanks, lady & gents! The carpet would be foam backed polypropylene and think it said Evo Stik shouldn't be used with polypropylene but perhaps it'd be ok with the foam back (so long as it didn't seep through)?

my friend used spray glue as he is a carpet fitter ,
you would be better of lining with 1" polystyrene using no nails then boarding over with 3mm ply then sticking carpet to that.much better finish and no awkward angles etc
the only thing my friend forgot to tell me is to cut the carpet (where the screws go through)before screwing anything to the wood as the carpet catches and the thread pulls out and ruining the carpet
