Transit Drivers...

while out at work today i spotted many many transits and here are the types of drivers for various types...

5x mk.5s mostly tipper/pick up bodies with the one low roof with a roof rack... male drivers
3x semi hi top mk.6 all male drivers
6x mk.7 transits or tourneos... 1 male driver and 5 women...


is this what has become of our favourite van... its become a vehicle for women drivers...
god help us

That's what happens when you fit power steering to a van

My mrs drives ours most of the time, and won't use the car unless the Transit isn't available But she moans that her shopping won't fit into anything smaller

dont get me wron gim not being sexist...

but making a transit or any van more like a car from the driving compartment just dums down the experience...


mind you... your not wrong about women needing all the space in a transit just for their shopping

shoulda seen it the day they brought a woman driver in to drive the hi-ab in my work im not sexist but f*** me she didnt suit driving the waggon

I can't accuse Mrs Altransit of that You can't see the floor for shopping bags, sweet wrappers and drink cartons, and bags of shoes on the way to the charity shop

Iam new to Transit driving got hooked after getting a job driving one , had to own one

but Ive noticed the reaction from people when they say thats your 'car' !why do you want that as a car? etc etc

But i just love the drive the space , the height on the road and i feel less stressed driving my Transit than i did my Mondeo etc i also look around at other transits and most are work people vans etc , seen one or two owners so to speak

but it great and so is this forum realise iam not alone

Yes we get a similar reaction, but having owned 2 Transit Minibuses, as family transport, for the last ten years, you get used to peoples odd reactions. The wifes mates are the worst, they look at it with horror, and can't understand how she drives anything larger than a Tesco trolley

It's so much better than the overpriced cr@ppy people carriers, and is cheap and reliable as well

mines my daily driver and i get exactly the same the "what are you driving that as a car, you dont need it", but its great for carrying stuff and taking the rugby lads to awaygames, comes in very handy and looks great

well as i have said before ,i use my van as a car ,normaly i have a car for going to work and running around but the mk6 transit was and is so nice to drive(demo) i sold the car and bourt the mk6 i have had it for 2 years and i still love it!
yes people say why do you need a van i say why not
it does the same to the gallon as a car ,i can sleep in it,i can move stuff in it ,its everything all in one! ohy and its faster than most avarage cars!
