A funny thing happened at work last night.....

Postby FredTransit » Wed May 21, 2008 11:34 pm

Was filming a reconstruction for Crimewatch, a reconstruction of the events before a murder in 1971. So, there we were in a side road in the east end, nearly midnight. The scene is a minicab pulling up and dropping off the fare, the murder victim. There was sirens, and a police car came screaming after some little M reg thing (might have been a focus, was a Ford).

Basically they pulled the car, right in the middle of the scene, and er sort of stopped filming. The driver was going 70 in a 35 road, and hadn't even seen the police car! Basically they called up a van, took the car away (must have been other stuff in the driver's background).

At least they apologised, we were panicking they were going to dump the M reg!!

Managed to get a shot before they turned up!

and picking up the 'fares'

No the taxi driver is not a suspect.....

 Both the tinas were from the same owner, he would have been driving but some bizarre BBC rule meant the owner couldn't be covered on their policy  so Gary did the driving. The hilarious bit of the shoot was when one of the actresses couldn't open the door and Gary didn't know, so he drove off without her! Image The estate is column change with a bench seat too, how rare is that?

Would've been even funnier if the reconstruction involved old police vehicles

Well I did have the livery for our Mk1 and the lights, but they weren't used  I am sure there was something else going on with the driver the police stopped, I wouldn't have thought they would have arrested him, even with the speed he was doing, would they?

Chances are, my husband built both the Transit and the Astra :!: . He works for the company that takes stock vehicles and turns them into Met cars and vans. Do all the BMW's too.

Which one mate? The estate's a cortina too, really rare bench front seat and column change.

I wish :!: I've been trying for ages to get him to get me a siren that could be wired up to the alarm. That'd put the proverbial up any thieving scum. No luck tho' :(

Get other goodies from time to time, a split charger came my way some time ago, but all the police related stuff is smashed or shredded and skipped.
