Running old recovery trucks

im wanting to buy a recovery truck after summer so I thought I would start having a look round now. I want to shift people motors as well as buy scrap cars and collect scrap. I came across the below Mk 2 I was just wondering what you lads thought of running a Mk 2 on a daily basis or would I be better off with a newer truck

Well............. Maybe I am biased but I think that's a good buy. If you can't have a tax exempt one get one that has no CO2s logged with the DVLA and it will be cheaper tax than a Mk6 and easier the repair. Also you can come to London in it and never need to worry about the LEZ (petrol).
Insurance should be cheaper too, as if the worst happens and ot's a total loss the insurance company will have less to pay our (that's how they look at it).

for the amount of petrol you would use coming to london from durham in a mk2 it would be cheeper to have a diesel and pay the lez

BTW pretty sure you need a waste carriers licence for scrap cars

You don't need a licence if you have the V5 signed over to you, it's then your car and you can scrap your own car if you want to. A car shouldn't have the V5 sent off as scrapped unless you take it through the gates of the scrap yard yourself.

I contacted the council a while ago told me I would need a waste managment licence and that would be £350 for years. thats if I want to collect scrap.

Dont think I will go for this truck I was just wondering what I would be best of with a newer one or a older one.

I would say either a tax exempt one or one at least before 2000, that way you won't have any CO2s logged with the DVLA and get higher tax due to it.
