That's why I thought they were illegal as very nice mister police man (or woman in this day and age) could say that you were trying to impersonate said person.

But I was wondering if using them at the side of the road (when stationary), say when your recovering a vehicle or helping someone and it's in a dark and dangerous place. Would it still be a punishable offence (as your still deemed to be on the high way and not private land).

I appreciate you can you away at them until you've had your fun when your on private grounds.

as long as you,ve got flashing orange beacons and your parked up i can,t see a problem with them, i do know they kill your eyes as you drive towards them, so any moody little copper is giving you a ticket no matter what you say, i,d use them for meets and shows and getting the odd muppet out my way on the motorway, it says in his ad that they are for accidents and breakdowns so they must be legel as such........

Like anything else, I don't think it's illegal to have them, just use them. We have em on the amby, got a 'flip flop' relay from EVS, it was about the same price as the ebay one. You just reminded me I wanted to get them for the 'police' van......

wig wag lights are a straight no no

but some coppers will turn a blind eye to them on escort vehicles

but they are only emergency vehicles that are allowed them.

there is loads of debates surronding these and red strobes on non emergency vehicles like

abnormal load escort and recovery trucks. i know that the highways agency had them fitted to there new gen troopers but cops soon told em to get them off

So as bad as blue lights then? I am surprised about the highways agency, I would have thought they would have got away with it.
