There has been loads of stories in the local papers about the plant and what it boils down to is Ford want to shut the plant.

 whoa! Very bad news! On the other hand if you charge that much and have poor customer service, what do you expect?

i configurated my dream van yesterday on the ford site and the spec i required was coming in at £35,000 so this is expensive when i could get a different make for less.

Basically that's aimed at big business that can offset the price against tax, the transit is no longer aimed at the ordinary individual working owner.

I'm thinking along the lines of MrMPuk :!:
You have to wait many months if you order a new van :!:
So this doesn't add up :?

Ford Transit 120 TDI EPIC Automatic. 0-60 in a leisurely and smooth 12.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 19.1 seconds. Now where's all these faster? manual Di s?

I really do hate to say this and may be banished from this site for life  but here in Northern Ireland the van that I have as a daily driver made more business sense to buy as we couldn't get a Transit in same spec anywhere the same price, we did try!! And in the last 6-9 months we are seeing fewer new transits, just the big number of Mk5s

I suspect that Ford are feeling great competition in the small van sector and this is why they need to cut back.
Oh how I long for the day when the rust is all gone!!!!! :-)
