Hi,
I've had my '01 lwb diesel for about 6 months now it has 142k miles and is in generally decent condition. Use it exclusively for transporting myself, two bikes and associated gear around the country for motorcycle racing. Coming back from Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on Sunday night it nearly packed it in. On the way down the A1 I noticed it was a little down on power and would only pull 65 but wasn't too bothered as I figured I wasn't in a hurry and would save fuel. It wasn't until 100 miles later when I reached the A12 heading for the Blackwall tunnel that I really started to notice the total lack of power. Things got worse pretty quickly from there and nearly got stuck in the tunnel. Simply wouldn't get past 30mph and sounded really rough.
Started it up last night to see if anything obvious was amiss. The engine was somewhat hesitant to start but it did start. Ran really roughly and the steering wheel vibrated a fair bit. There didn't appear to be any exhaust leaks or other external engine issues. The oil level checked out ok.
While I know it's hard to diagnose the problem over the net I was hoping I could be pointed in the right direction. While I'm an okay mechanic on motorcycles I generally try to avoid working four wheeled vehicles. I fear that the engine is knackard and I will be looking for a new van.
