Transit reliability

Postby chuffit » Sun Aug 10, 2008 3:44 pm

I've just come back from a 1,400 mile round trip to Scotland and back and i am so pleased with my recently converted Transit camper conversion :D
I reckon it averaged 36 mpg and never missed a beat :D :D
By the way on trying to change my v5 to motor home i came home to a letter from D.V.L.A asking me to present my van to DVLA in Glasgow for inspection,,,, only trouble is i live in Gloustershire   What are these people on?
I have at their request sent over 35 pictures and four letters!!!! The problem is apparently " It still looks like a Transit " (Despite fitted windows and seven other exterior mods)
I would love to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems

"Still looks like a transit" WTF??? Did they now expect it to look like a spr*nter?? When vans are converted to campers, they still look like the base vehicle. This is a good example of not telling the DVLA too much!! If you now camper was already a class4 MOT, can you tell me the advantages of re classing a van as a motor caravan?

I just wanted to have it all above board as in the event of an accident/claim i dont want to give them a way out of paying. I am now waiting for a letter from the Oxford area inspection team. I guess if i dont get van re-classified its not the end of the world
