Hi all.
not been on for a while, due to work load, but i have a problem that haunts me.....
I have a 55 plate Transit Jumbo.
I have owned it or approx 18 months.
First real trip out in it, to Newquay it broke down on the M5/M6 junction.... a broken fuel pipe.
Got it mended via the main dealer under warrenty... Jobs a good un.
12 montha later ( May 08) doing the same trip to Newquay it broke down again, same problem. ( don`t know if it was the same fuel pipe) luckily were 1 mile away from a main dealer and the AA man towed me to them, they fixed the problem for 8.00am on the Saturday, and we were ok for our deadline and we lost no money.
I must point out, that if we don`t get to our destination, we stand to lose between £3k and £5K in work.
June 08, same problem on the return journey brack from the new forest, just managed to limp home ( the smell of deisel coming into the cab was really bad, so we knew it had gone again). It was the very same pipe that was replaced before. This time the main dealer replaced all the pipes from the pump to the injector pipes, basically everthing.
Weekend just gone 17th Aug 08....... you`ve guest it, same problem, again, desiel smell in the cab, managed limped to the desination and called the AA on the Sunday to get home
So from May 08, a fuel pipe has broken 3 times and 4 times in total in the 18 months since I`ve had it, the van does not get used in the week, and has only done 3000 miles since May 08 to Aug 08 and has only done 26-28,000 miles in total.
I had a chat to the lady who booked it in, explained how i can`t trust it, if it doesn`t get me to my destination on the required date, i stand to lose some serious money, its not too bad if it goes on the return journey, so it needs sorting out properly.
So, she rings me yesterday to say the vans done and apart from the broken pipe, they can`t find the problem and i can collect the van today.....................
But I`m back to square 1 again. Going on the recent events, it`ll go again, who knows when. I know have the problem of on important journeys do I use that van, as it can`t be trusted. So far I have been lucky and always arrived at my destination and have not lost money, but the luck will sone change....
So what do I say to the main dealer, in order to get this sorted out... Any ideas.
Of all the people who I`ve spoken too, they all say, a bracket is missing or its a vibration problem... so i don`t want the answer to the cause, just what to say the the main dealer..
Can i refuse to take my van away til its sorted... but that will not benifit me as i need it.
1 more thing. The warrenty will soon be up, what happens then, if i go on recent events, i`m looking at 3 breakdowns a year quite easliy...
HELP.
