Ford lays off workers

They've not layed anyone off, they just aren't continuing their short term contracts. Production always slows down this time of year.

Although with all the other news coming out the plant it's not looking good for it's future.

Especially when the mk8 goes into production because it isnt aloud to be built at southampton :(
I miss my 'courtesy van'............140 Glx..now a Jumbo :(

My dad was talking to one of his customers, who is a some sort of research & developement for the new models, and he was telling him that when the mk8 goes into production (not to distant future by all accounts) it wont be aloud to be built at southampton, but dad not really thinking didnt ask him many details, so not much more info than that at the minute im afraid :(

Will they add another plant or will all production be shifted to Turkey, I was under the impession (probably wrongly) that swb's were built in the UK?

I'm not sure who it is that decides this but to be honest the building does have a lot of history.

yeh spitfires and that BUT history is one thing isnt it but large scale employment is another, a museum wont do much for the local economy will it, these councils want to wake up :) mugs, when ford have gone they will realise, big empty site , i know we have Dagenham and the Aveley plant near me :roll:
